Global Rotations returns for it’s first edition of 2022 on the 2nd February and we coming back with a massive bang☄!!
We dedicate the first hour and half to open decks, giving selectors at any level the opportunity to come and share their tasty tunes with like minded others🎧🧡.
On our sublime line up will be a trio of incredibly talented DJs from our amazing Selextorhood community⚡. @afroqueenmusic @japesdj & @echojulietdj will be on rotation, taking the dancefloor on a rhythmic odyssey, exploring everything from afro latin funk to jazzy hiphop to soulful footwork🎷🎶.
Mystic Meg –
DJ Mystic Meg is a multidisciplinary sound artist hailing from Birmingham.
She shares her love of music through well curated sets, intentional mixes and smooth transitions. As a Multi Genre DJ Mystic Meg is inspired by sounds that fuse and cross genres. As a Black woman and a member of the selxtorhood community, Mystic Meg is passionate about ensuring that womxn, non binary + gender non conforming folx are able to take up space in an industry that is often male dominated. She cares deeply about music and DJs for love, for joy and to create spaces that keep the vibe high, unique and mystical.
Echo Juliet –
A producer, DJ and percussionist who has also spent over ten years curating live music, including one of the UK’s biggest jazz festivals. She brings that knowledge to the decks playing jazz, funk, disco, afrobeat and latin grooves. Her own productions blend global percussion grooves with soulful electronica and have received radio support from Jamz Supernova, Jazz FM and Brownswood’s Future Bubblers programme. DJ credits include SXSW, We Out Here, Green Man Festival, Love Supreme and Spiritland, as well as a radio residency for promoter Soundcrash and a guest show on Worldwide FM. Behind the scenes Emily works for Bradley Zero’s Rhythm Section label, helps run DJ collective Selextorhood, and is often invited to speak about gender equality in the music industry including on BBC Woman’s Hour, Jazz FM and in the Guardian.
Japes –
Japes arrived on the Brum scene in 2019 after attending a Selextorhood workshop, where it was love at first mix. She plays jazz, rnb, disco, hip-hop, afro, latin and house, with a real penchant for percussion led music from all around the globe.
As always it is free entry and we are a safe space, meaning we will not tolerate inappropriate and discriminatory behaviour of any kind. We want all our DJs & the crowd to feel welcome, relaxed in their personal zones when performing & moving within the space. Our aim for every Global Rotations party is to build a warm & harmonious vibe where we all feel uplifted💫!
