And now to introduce the DJs in rotation this month:
Island:TDJ and Birmingham Bab inspired by uplifting full rhythms and deliciously intoxicating beats. Her eclectic sets sweep across the globe – pulling in the warm sounds of afro funk, psychedelic disco, baile Latin and neo jazz.
JapesJapes arrived on the Brum scene in 2019 after attending a Selextorhood workshop, where it was love at first mix. She plays jazz, rnb, disco, hip-hop, afro, latin and house, with a real penchant for percussion.
TONiNew to the DJ scene, TONi started mixing after years of collecting and digging her tunes. TON’i’s knowledge of music is shared in her residency on Alto Radio ‘Life in Labels’, where she deep dives into the history and music of her favourite and most influential record labels.
